Breathe, move, prioritize, organize and hydrate.
Stress and the workplace go hand in hand. An entire industry has emerged to provide employees with workstation workouts and tips for combating stress. Stress busters usually fall into two categories – short-term, quick fixes and long-term lifestyle changes. To beat daily tension, the quick fix is often the best (and only) choice.
Breathe. Take several long, deep breaths to cool down.
Move. Get up and stretch or take a quick walk on your lunch hour. Activity can do wonders for your state of mind.
Prioritize. If you are overwhelmed by work, take some time to write down your most pressing projects. Prioritize and focus on doing one at a time. You are only human, after all.
Organize. The paperless office is a myth. If your desk is covered in paper, take a few minutes to organize. Discard what you don’t need. Sometimes, clearing the clutter from your desk can help clear the clutter from your mind.
Hydrate. If you are not eating properly or drinking enough water, you cannot be your best. Your attention span can suffer and your fuse will shorten. A cold glass of water or a piece of fruit can revitalize you in an instant.
