And if so, what kind?
I ride a fixed gear.
Bikes are amazing exercise, but you can't coast. You gotta ride hard and work up a sweat. Riding in traffic makes you go harder if you are not timid.

I got a bike as a gift but used it only once and now it's rusting away. my brother, who is handicapped, has a stationary bike which he uses if we can't make it to the gym.
