it's just so tough to find a pool and then to find the time and logistics to make it efficient. seems like a big project with so much else going on in life, you know? i guess it is like anything else... you make time.

we go swimming on a weekly basis
in the summer, we have an outdoor pool pass
in the winter, we get an indoor pass
we don't do it for working out, but just for fun

Did a lot of swimming this summer and it was a good break from the gym which I'm beginning to find boring. I love swimming in a pool actually, I can't stand swimming in the ocean. I want my laps and my strokes uninterrupted by strong pesky waves.

It is true. It is also helpful for most injuries to exercise in the water because of the weightless effect.

I swim laps in the summer in the pool. But not any other time. I used to go to a gym and my daughter and I would swim. Then it got so busy with kids playing a lot and left no room to swim. I prefer to walk for exercise.

Walking is good too. When I walk I walk a bit faster and swing my arms.

I have to admit I'm a little intimidated by the lap swimmers at my gym's pool. I would like to swim for exercise, but I don't know the rules or etiquette, and I don't know a proper way to turn. So I stay out because they all seem so serious.
I have thought about asking a swimming teacher if they could teach me lap swimming, but I don't know if that's done. Do swimming teachers just teach people how to swim or can they teach this sort of thing? Anyone know?

Swimming and walking are simple yet very useful exercises. They can be compared with the complex exercise we perform in the gyms.
