The Quirky Behind The Professor’s House

Hey there! I’m David—though I might not be a model (as you can probably tell by my casually stylish touque here in sunny Thailand), I’m the guy behind The Professor’s House and The Pet Friendly House. I created these sites to share my quirky passion for all things home, lifestyle, and pet-related, with the hope of making life a bit easier and more enjoyable for like-minded folks.

When I’m not managing the sites or navigating the single-parenting adventure, you’ll likely find me in the kitchen whipping up something delicious, or out on a bike ride, traveling whenever the budget allows. I truly believe travel is a must before diving into the adulting grind—there’s so much to gain from experiencing new cultures.

A little fun trivia about me: Growing up in Northern Alberta, I’ve always had a love for the great outdoors and hearty, no-fuss meals. But when it comes to food, nothing beats Thai cuisine—it’s my absolute favorite. Over the years, I’ve had a pretty colorful career: I’ve been a meatcutter, worked on oil rigs, dabbled in commercial diving, and even worked as a web designer. Sixteen years ago, I had a life-changing kidney transplant, and I’m forever grateful to my incredible sister, Brenda, who donated her kidney. Life’s thrown me a few curveballs along the way, but I’ve learned to roll with the punches, embracing every twist and turn with a smile (and, of course, my touque)!
