I agree with you! After 28 years I returned home to aging parents who are deceased. Sick and tired of the North East. High property taxes, cold people, bad vibes from my childhood. As of late a neighbor, a good friend and relative's who are against my family. Too many bad memories in the past and now the present.

They definitely are, out of control. Among wolves, A Highly evolved species, only the alpha the strongest and best genetically mate and reproduce they also mate for life the entire pack cooperates to rear those young because they know if they all reproduced like our domesticated dogs they would quickly overrun the areas resources to support them. The ONLY kill you eat and consume the entire animal. Mankind on the other hand is the opposite. Getting weaker and dumber with each generation . Sometimes places change and that’s a good time to go elsewhere if you can.

Like you say, it's very a personal thing and you need to try and see where you feel more at home.
Me for example, I know I love the sea, surfing, horse riding and mountains, but I live 800km from the sea, I don't live near mountains, there is no indoor surfing either, but I do horse riding, but it's becoming a bit expensive these times. I'm not happy here, because my activities or what I love to do in my spare time doesn't exist where I live.

Having travelled to multiple countries, there are place I was feeling much better and I don't understand why people are saying "glad to be back at home" after a trip while for me it's more like a "I would have stayed 4 more months, why do I need to come back?".

I believe that all of us who came to this site to read this article, we obviously believe in self-help.

I find the author of this article to be either oblivious to reality and insensitive to other people's perspectives, or purposely stir up the truth out of the reader.

In my personal case reading the comments blessed me way more than the article never did!! The candid comments are far more comforting and edifying, than a passive aggressive article putting the blame on the reader. The comments here proofs, that many of us are going through similar feelings and emotions, for different reasons and personal circumstances in different geographical locations. Our emotions are true, and our feelings are real and valid!!!

The example of the polar bear in Africa, genius, nailed it!!! We all don't thrive in the same geographical locations.

Personally after traveling for thirty-eight states and living in eleven, I know for a fact, that humidity and heat are not for me, argh!! is choking, suffocating!! I thrive in cold, dry weather and the four seasons, these conditions are emotionally and physically charging!!!

In a nutshell these areas are not for me:
* The East Coast is overpopulated, No thanks!!
* Florida is Jurassic Park!! I couldn't leave fast enough!! One school year was way too long!!!
* South, Southeast, too hot and too humid, and plagued with natural disasters; hurricanes, tornadoes, floods/flash floods, you mention it, with all the complications and aftermath that you could and couldn't predict!!
* The heartland, tornadoes and wild storms can be a deal breaker.

Dry, mountain, four seasons is more my cup of tea, where I can thrive.
After the process of elimination starting with the climate and weather, in how affects my mind and body. Then with what type of nature's behavior I'm willing to deal with, I move to the next factors, like; cost of living, crime, etc. But the climate/weather is something that needs to be experienced, specially if we have never experienced any other place, but only where we grew up. Because the weather can affect us all differently. While someone can love Jurassic Park, someone else can pass out with heat exhaustion, or the next hurricane convert someone's life savings in debris, and on and on and on. . .

Thank you all, for your honest comments, you all gave me the emotional support that I needed Sometimes is good for the soul to remember that we are not alone in this journey, that there are a lot of other people like me going through similar circumstances!! Your comments made my day Blessings to you all

I didn't move to another country or different state i basically moved across town. It is a house my husband and i owned for many years and was always so quiet and peaceful it was wonderful. Fast forward two months after moving in and it has become a living hell. The nice quiet garden center that we abut has become a farm and the noise from the machinery wakes me up at 4AM not to mention the quarry that starts blasting at 3AM. Not everyone has a chance to try out their house before moving in but we did and nothing would have even given us a clue that this was going to happen. Not to mention my neighbor began construction on an inground pool the same day we moved in. Now i am stuck in a house that to be honest i wish would explode and i am not a young person and to think i may take my last breath in this hellhole is overwhelming. SO i guess what i am saying is that no matter how you try to make do with a place you hate sometimes it is pretty hard to do so as the situation is more than not liking the wall colors. Hating where you live can be a real game changer and not for the better so good luck (i am not being condensending i sincerely mean good luck) to all out there who feel trapped and stressed as it would be abnormal NOT to feel trapped and stressed since your house should be your castle and not your dungeon. Do whatever you can to keep healthy and start researching ways to either get out (easier said then done) and ask for professional help if you need it as just talking to someone non judgemental can make the path smoother.

no one is ever stuck--- sit with yourself a bit--- ask yourself why am I not happy here? What is it I hate about it? Make a honey list of things you like and dislike-- this is for you so never lie to yourself---I moved away from my home state 15 years ago-- pretty much had a wild and crazy fun 15 year marriage that took me all over seeing and doing-- I loved it--but sadly after my divorce I have not known where I should be-- I left AZ headed back to Florida where we lived for 10 years--- got faced with some people I called friends -- but now were very strange to me--- decided to head back to North Dakota to be near my family--Been here for 7 months and I feel like I adjust waiting for something-- my family keeps to themselves--I am sure I am different to them after being gone so long-- we have nothing in common except we are related. I hate the winter I hate being cold and all the stress that goes with living in the cold-- Arizona is where my ex wife and I moved to when we left Florida-- the divorce was like losing my limbs it hurt just that bad--- I have been all over emotionally and now I landed on my feet again -- and once again I am getting to know myself-- what a journey its been-- But I sit much to long missing the warmth on my skin-- I have a job here-- its a job I never thought I would ever do-- but then after one is divorced many things a person does is what they never planned on-- I feel like if I stay here to long I will be here forever and I am not sure I will ever be happy again-- I have not met any friends--people here are not warm and fuzzy--so my dog and I have a life together in the frozen tundra---I am excited and scared to leave at the same time-- what to do what to do...But I think at the end of everyday if you don't have the things and people in your life that brings happiness we fall into the world of settling for things---It scares me to settle
